Ruth joined the Census Microdata Unit when it was established in March 1992, transferring from the Department of Sociology at the University of Manchester with the late Cathie Marsh. In October 2002, she left the post of CCSR Administrator and began working on the ESRC Research Methods Programme with Angela Dale.
Since April 2008, she has been Programme Coordinator for the ESF Research Networking Programme on "Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences 2 (QMSS 2)".
Ruth
was awarded an MBE for services to social science in the 2007
New Year Honours List.
