I joined the CCSR in September 2004, as a Ph.D. Student. My previous education before beginning my Ph.D. includes a Bachelor of Geography (Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona), MSc in Social Research Methods and Statistics (University of Manchester - CCSR) and a Master in Demography (Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona – Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics).

I am a member of the POPLA (Population and Places) research group at CCSR.

Current research

‘Estimating segregation and diversity of ethnic groups over time in England and Wales, 1991-2001’, Post Doctoral Fellowship awarded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) within the Understanding Population Trends and Processes (UPTAP) initiative, under the supervision of Professor David Voas.

Previous research

‘Estimation of ethnic groups in sub-national areas for analysis of population change, England and Wales, 1991-2001 ’, Ph.D. in the Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research (University of Manchester), under the supervision of Professor Ludi Simpson, Dr Nissa Finney and Dr Paul Norman.

General information and statistical outputs are available here.

Research interests

• Demography's contribution to debates on segregation and diversity
• Methods for producing consistent population time series for small areas and population subgroups
• Counting people in the information age (undercounts and overcounts that arise from definitional problems)
