Teaching and learning materials for the SARS
We often do courses with practical components for students to get to use the SARs. Our workbooks are available online for use or reuse:
- A workbook that will guide the user through a series of exercises to analyse Longterm limiting illness data in the SARs
- An introductory workbook that will guide the user through an analysis of the 2001 Individual SAR.
- An introductory workbook that will guide the user through an analysis using the Small Area Microdata file.
- An introductory workbook that will guide the user through an analysis of the 1991 Household SAR This workbook uses the file hhteach.sav as its basis.
For teaching, there are a number of microdata teaching files for different purposes:
- Household hierarchical teaching file
- 1991 Individual SAR for Birmingham.
- Individual SAR for the North West: 1991 and 2001
- 1991 Individual SAR for the North West.
For data, students and teachers should register in the normal way, i.e. individually through the Census Registration System .
CCSR developed learning and teaching materials based on the 1991 SARs as part of the Collection of Historical and Contemporary Censuses Project (CHCC). This material is now being updated for the 2001 SARs. The updated parts will appear below:
