Humanities Bridgeford Street is located on Bridgeford Street off Oxford Road and is building number 35 on the campus map. You can find directions and parking information on the University of Manchester web site.

The university is only a 15-minute walk from Manchester City Centre and there are regular buses to the campus. A map of the city centre can be found on the university web site.

Participants are requested to make their own travel and hotel reservations and bookings and they are responsible for covering all related costs. To assist participants in organising their accommodation we have provided details of hotels in Manchester.

Travel to the university

Travel by air

Manchester Airport is located about 10 miles (16km) south of the city centre, about 30 minutes from the university.

The airport has a number of transport links to the city:

* Train - The airport's two terminals are linked directly to the city centre by a fast, frequent 24 hour train link to both Piccadilly and Oxford Road stations.
* Taxi - A taxi from the airport to the University/City Centre will cost approximately £20.
* Bus - Local buses also run to the city centre and Oxford Road area of the campus.

Travel by train

The nearest train station to the venue is Manchester Oxford Road (this is also the closest station to the IBIS Hotel, Portland Street). To get to the venue, go down the station approach to Oxford Road and turn right. The campus is a ten to fifteen minute walk. Alternatively, buses stop outside the Palace Hotel and there is a taxi rank opposite the station approach.

The main Manchester train station is Piccadilly. The Oxford Road Link bus (no 147) runs from Piccadilly Rail Station across the campus stopping at 14 locations and finishing at Grafton Street. This service runs on weekdays between 7.15am and 6.45pm, at 10-minute intervals, and can be caught from the Fairfield Street entrance to Piccadilly Station. There is also a free shuttle bus, metroshuttle number 3, which runs along Portland Street until 7pm Monday to Saturday. A taxi from Piccadilly Station to the Oxford Road area of the campus will cost you about £5.

Victoria station is the farthest away from the university. To get to the Oxford Road area of the campus, buses 191 and 197 run from from Corporation Street, outside the Co-operative Bank. A taxi will cost around £8. There is also a free shuttle bus, metroshuttle number 2, which runs between Victoria and Oxford Road stations until 7pm each day (6pm Sundays).
