NESSTAR online

NESSTAR provides a straight forward method of locating SARs for 1991 and 2001. NESSTAR is a tool for locating, exploring and extracting data that has been developed by the Data Archive and the Norwegian Statistics Office. NESSTAR can generate tables, descriptive statistics and charts on-line, which can be downloaded to your PC. NESSTAR allows also users to extract subsets of variables. Files can be selected on the basis of variables or cases and extracted as SPSS, STATA and NSDstat datasets with all the variable labels. included. Exploration tools are also downloadable from the web, free of charge for academic use. Nesstar is available

NSDstat

NSDstat is a desktop statistical analysis package developed around the concepts of user-friendliness and the power to process large amounts of data in minimal time. Features of NSDstat include univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis, graphical representation of data, regression, weighting, recoding.

The NSDstat interactive help includes descriptions of how and why an analysis would be conducted, in addition to how you would conduct that analysis in NSDstat. As such, NSDstat is suitable for use by those who require some degree of support for irregularly performed statistical operations.

For academic use, purchase of the SARs includes a site license to use NSDstat within the purchasing organisation. For non academic use, purchase of the SARs includes a copy and license for NSDstat.

Download of entire datasets and documentation

Fully-labelled versions of the SARs are available in SPSS and STATA, and also as comma-delimited files for reading into Excel or other packages. Academic downloads are available to registered users.

DVD

All microdata files for 1991 and 2001 and associated documentation and boundary data can be supplied on DVD. For users who want a built-in exploratory analysis package, we will be able to supply the SARs together with NSDstat. For other users, the data can be supplied in SPSS and STATA format.
