Citing the CAMS

Its always great to see research using the CAMS in print.

Publications using the 2001 Individual CAMS should contain the following acknowledgement:

The authors alone are responsible for the interpretation of the data

To cite a CAMS file use the following format:

Office for National Statistics (2006) 2001 Controlled Access Microdata Sample [computer file]

Census output is Crown copyright and is reproduced with the permission of the Controller of HMSO and the Queen's Printer for Scotland.

Where other data sources are used, e.g. Indices of Multiple Deprivation variables, there should also be an acknowledgement of their provision by the data providers.

This information is required by the terms of our agreement with the Office for National Statistics and helps us to justify the continued availability of SAR data. Registered users do receive reminders to do this as part of our regular pubtrawl.
