Introductional Data Analysis Unit 9 : Hypothesis testing: the one sample t-test
Description
This unit builds on unit 8 and introduces the role of hypothesis testing when using sample data to infer things about the population. The calculation and interpretation of a simple one sample t-test is explained.
Objectives
- To be familiar with the role of hypothesis testing in data analysis
- To be able to carry out and interpret a simple t-test to assess the claim that a population mean is at, above or below a specified value.
- To understand and apply the concept of significance level
