Introductional Data Analysis Unit 8 : Using sample data to estimate population characteristics
Description
This unit discusses sample data and explores how it is used to estimate characteristics about the population from which it is drawn. Sampling theory is introduced to show how it is possible to calculate the reliability of sample estimates using standard errors.
Objectives
- Be familiar with the basic principles of sampling theory and the Central Limit Theorem
- Be able to calculate standard errors and use them to determine the precision of sample estimates.
