Guidance on Applications for QMSS 2 Summer School
The following notes should be read in conjunction with the Call for Participants
Applications should consist of a short CV, together with a covering letter of no more than 500 words in English.
We suggest that your application contains the following information:
1. Name and correspondence address
2. Address of place of study/employment if different from above
3. Status – i.e. PhD student, researcher, lecturer, etc.
4. Nationality
5. Academic qualifications
6. Publications
7. Conference presentations
8. Name of the summer school(s) for which you wish to be considered.
9. A short statement explaining why the summer school will be of value to you. This might include:
How it will build on the training you have received so far (thus demonstrating you have the necessary background to do the course)
How it relates to your current and future research (showing how the summer school will benefit your research career)
If applicable, a brief description of a case study you are planning to work on using your own data.
If you wish to be considered for more than one summer school, please indicate your preference by stating your first, second and third choices. (NB you will only be allocated to one summer school).
10. A recommendation letter from a PhD supervisor or other established scholar is also required and will need to be submitted at the same time as the above in order to meet the deadline for applications.
