POLICY MODELLING With focus themes of Innovation, ICT, Scalability, Large Scale Data and Bridging the Gap between formal and real worlds 14 - 15 September 2011, Vienna, Austria Organisers: Petra Ahrweiler, Diane Payne, Bruce Edmonds, Sylvie Occelli
Organising Committee: Petra Ahrweiler, Bruce Edmonds, Nigel Gilbert, Sylvie Occelli, Diane Payne and Andreas Pyka Guest Speakers: John Casti, IIASA, Laxenburg, Austria Dave Snowden, Cognitive Edge Pte, Ltd., Singapore The aim of this workshop was to bring together new research on Policy Modelling as it intersects the area of complexity science. Broadly speaking this is how complexity models and simulation can be used to improve and inform the policy making process. It focused in particular on three key overlapping themes: • modelling, understanding and managing innovation • ICT, large scale data and scalability for innovation policy modelling • bridging the gap between formal and policy worlds The workshop, funded by QMSS 2, was a satellite workshop at the European Conference on Complex Systems, Vienna, 12 - 16 September 2011 A link to video presentations from the meeting. Publication Abstracts of all talks were distributed as part of the ECCS “Proceedings”. A special issue of JASSS, the Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation is planned for a selection of updated papers from the workshop. |
