The aim of this workshop was to bring together new research on Policy Modelling as it intersects the area of complexity science. Broadly speaking this is how complexity models and simulation can be used to improve and inform the policy making process. It focused in particular on three key overlapping themes:

• modelling, understanding and managing innovation

• ICT, large scale data and scalability for innovation policy modelling

• bridging the gap between formal and policy worlds

The workshop, funded by QMSS 2, was a satellite workshop at the European Conference on Complex Systems, Vienna, 12 - 16 September 2011
