Programme outline

Four sessions are planned, each of half a day:

• session on the general framework and on multilevel research in cross-national or cross-cultural research,
• session on the problem of small N and how to solve the problem (also alternatives as multi-group comparison), multilevel or multi-group comparison in substantive studies in cross-country and longitudinal research (best practices),
• a critical reflection on multilevel analysis and comparative research from a theoretical and methodological viewpoint (e.g. theoretical validity).
Sessions usually consist of two contributions and a discussion. Junior participants will have the opportunity to discuss their ongoing work and the chance to meet senior experts in the field in order to discuss central issues is a highly regarded aspect of all QMSS 2 seminars.

Participants are expected to read the papers and prepare their questions in advance.

Applications
Due to the large number of applications, the call for participants has been closed earlier than planned. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.

Accommodation
The seminar will take place in The Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe (also called Irish College). There is no registration fee, and accommodation and meal costs during the seminar will be covered. Participants need to pay for their own travel, but the organizers will contribute to the travel costs of up to 10 participants from QMSS 2 participating countries.

Final Report.
