QMSS 2 Crossnational comparisons
Seminar “Quality and Comparability of Measures for Constructs in Comparative Research: Methods and Applications”
Bolzano (Bozen), Italy
10-13 June 2009
In this seminar, we want to bring together methodologists and substantive researchers working in different fields to get a good picture of the used (in practice) and required procedures for evaluating the comparability of measures across countries.
The idea is to have 4 sessions of half a day. In these sessions the applied procedures for different topics will be discussed by methodologists in that field and substantive researchers.
In each session three papers will be discussed of specialists in this field. These papers are expected to be sent around before June 5, 2009 to all participants (see list below). The emphasis in the meeting will be on the discussion of the papers between the presenters in the session and the other participants in the seminar. This means that the presentations will be rather brief (15 minutes at most). For each paper a discussion of an hour is planned and one extra hour for general discussions about the topic and the procedures.
If we want this conference to succeed, it is essential that the participants have read the papers in advance .
