Nissa,

I wonder if you and any POPLA colleagues might want to respond to this. We could discuss it on Monday,

Angela

Subject: Qualitative information on migrants

Dear Dr Elliot,

The North West Regional Strategic Migration Partnership (RSMP) is one of eleven regional strategic migration partnerships sponsored by the Home Office, operating across Great Britain.  It serves the North West Region, which comprises Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

The function of the RSMP is to provide a framework within which issues pertaining to migrants can be discussed, and information exchanged.  Its aim is to add value to the decision making process by gathering and disseminating information that may inform and empower existing agencies and decision making bodies to plan at a strategic level.

Our Information Monitoring Sub Group is currently looking at ways of gathering and systematising qualitiative information relating to migrants in the North West.

I am writing to ask if the Cathy Marsh Centre has undertaken any research along these lines? If so, would it be possible for someone to come and give us a brief talk on the subject? Our next meeting is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday 16th January 2009 in Manchester Town Hall.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

John
