Demographic forecasting with Popgroup
Popgroup is a family of software developed to forecast population, households and the labour force for areas and social groups. It is based on Excel to build on users' existing spreadsheet skills. The software has been used to forecast national and sub-national populations, as well as social and ethnic groups. It uses standard demographic methods of cohort component projections, household headship rates and economic activity rates. Its flexibility allows integration of official statistics and ancillary data.

UK Data Modules -The following Data Modules are now available for use:
2008-based sub-national Household projections (CLG England, GRO/NRS Scotland, and WAG Wales)
2001-based sub-national Disability and Illness projections (each country in UK, based on Manchester University research)
2008-based sub-national Population projections (ONS England, WAG Wales)

Derived Forecasts. A new module to forecast households, labour force, disability and any population characteristic related to population age-sex composition. Presentation summarising the new module.
Prices. Following the introduction of the Derived Forecasts module, and Data Modules to read sub-national projections produced by UK government agencies, a new pricing structure has been agreed and implemented from 1st October 2010. New and existing users will need to consider purchasing the Derived Forecasts module, and the optional annual service package in order to implement household and other projections, and receive data modules to easiliy replicate government projections.
