From October 2010, POPGROUP's Derived Forecasts module replaces Labgroup. Derived Forecasts provides all the functionality of Labgroup and much more. Derived Forecast summary (slide show).
The following notes describe the now relatively limited functions of Labgroup, which will be supported but not further developed.
Labgroup provides a means to make projections of the future labour force.
Users enter past information and their assumptions about the future economic activity rates into Excel data sheets.
Labgroup uses standard projection methods to produce forecasts.
Labgroup may be used independently of Popgroup or use output from Popgroup
Features include:
- Five year age groups, males and females separately
- Data from national labour force projections and district Census results included
- Decomposition into demographic change and economic activity change
- Easy to use output
- Facilities to override or adjust standard data with user’s data
- Security of results with cell and sheet protection
- All input and output can be copied for use and re-formatting in the user’s own documents
