The forecasting software comprises two separate modules:

Popgroup - for population projections and forecasts.

Derived Forecasts - for household, labour force, disability and forecasts of other characteristics related to population age-sex composition.

Two further modules with relatively limited functionality are supported but not further developed. Their functionality is contained within the Derived Forecasts module:

Labgroup - for labour force projections and forecasts.

Each module includes:

Full reference manual, on-screen notes, and user manual with worked examples.
Telephone support for twelve months.
Email discussion list and independent user group.
Maintenance: free updates; quick resolution of any program faults.

Further details of each module can be found by clicking on the links above or on the buttons along the top of the page. Details of costs for each module are also available.

An information leaflet summarising details of the Popgroup family of software is available in pdf format, this leaflet is designed to be printed on two A4 sheets double-sided.

If you have any queries about the software you may find it useful to refer to the selection of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's), or email popgroup support.

Popgroup was first developed at Bradford Council, supported by six Local Authorities: Shropshire, Worcestershire, Bradford, Derbyshire, Buckinghamshire and Staffordshire, and later by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). It is now owned by the Local Government Association. Income
generated from sales is used to extend the software and support its users. Programming, support and promotion have been provided since 2009 by Edge Analtyics Ltd, UK.
