Research Methods Festival Programme
Programme for: Thursday 1st July am
Resources for statistical analysisBooking is not required for this session Support for statistical analysis Elizabeth Ackerley, Brian Francis, Damon Berridge Centre for Statistical Analysis, University of Lancaster This is a drop in session for participants who wish to find out more about what support and training is available for statistical analysis. The National Social Statistics Consultancy Service will be available at the drop in session. This free service (funded under the ESRC Research Methods Programme), where Social Scientists can obtain statistical help and advice for their research, usually runs via e-mail - details of how to register and submit e-mail queries can be found at http://www.cas.lancs.ac.uk/consultancy.html. For more complex problems, where an e-mail dialogue between the client and consultant may not be sufficient, a face-to-face consultation is possible and there are a number of ESRC travel and subsistence bursaries available to assist the client to visit the Centre for Applied Statistics at Lancaster University. At this drop in session clients can bring along their data, discuss their statistical problems with the consultants, get details of the range of statistical support and training provided by CAS and sign-up for the full e-mail consultancy service. For those who may only be able to drop by at a certain time during the session, a sign-up sheet will be available to allow clients to book a 10-15 minute session. Consultations on the more detailed queries can continue via the e-mail service after the Festival. |
