LORRAINE DEARDEN
Lorraine Dearden currently heads the Centre for Early Years and Education Research at the Institute for Fiscal studies and is also a Professor of Economics and Social Statistics at the Institute of Education. She has been and is currently involved in the evaluation of a number of government programs using propensity score matching techniques including Education Maintenance Allowances, Wraparound Care, and Neighbourhood Nurseries. She has also been involved in a number of other research projects using evaluation methods including work for the Department for Work and Pensions on Ethnic Parity in Job Centre Plus programs as well as a project for the DCSF using regression discontinuity evaluation methods looking to look at the impact of month of birth on child outcomes from the ages of 5 until 18. She has also lectured and published widely on the subject of program evaluation methods including on the MSc in Policy Evaluation run at the IoE for the Civil Service.
