Tensions in Social Statistics Conference
University of Durham 23-25 September 2004
The aim of the conference is to confront issues arising from recent developments in the philosophy of science for the use of statistics among social scientists. A short description of the conference / and a rationale for fuzzy set and case-wise research can be found here.
The Call For Papers is now closed, unless you can provide an empirical illustration for one of the conference "streams". We have encouraged two types of paper - reflective pieces on epistemology; and illustrations of innovative research. You may wish to refer to related conference programmes (such as the 4S EASST conference on science and technology "Public Proofs" in Paris in August 2004, or the Royal Statistical Society conference, whose theme in Sept. 2004 is putting statistics into practice). RSS2004, 4S EASST.
A revised provisional programme is now available, along with the booking form and registration details. All the abstracts received by early May can be viewed here..
