Design and Analysis of Household Surveys
This free one-day course, on 27th July 2006, is aimed at social researchers and analysts. The morning will discuss the main features of household surveys and the sample design issues which are relevant to users of household survey data, including:
- impact of sample design on data analysis, design effects and effective sample size
- how to decide on the sample size needed for various purposes
- commonly used sample designs
The afternoon will cover analysis of household survey data using logistic regression and multilevel modelling. There will be a hands-on example of multilevel modelling of voting data from the British Household Panel Survey using the MLWin package. Participants should have some knowledge and experience of regression.
