Using government surveys for research

Friday 6 August 2004, 12:45 - 3:30pm
University of St Andrews, Seminar room 310, Irvine Building

This half-day workshop was an introduction to the UK large-scale government survey data that are available for secondary analysis such as the Labour Force Survey, General Household Survey, the Scottish Health Survey and the Scottish Crime Survey.

Attendees learnt about the research potential of such data, how to register for and access data and where to go for help, among other things. There was also a hands-on computing session to introduce Nesstar for basic analysis and for downloading data into SPSS, and to demonstrate STATA.
