CAPRI's overarching research goal is to investigate the confidentiality and privacy issues that arise from the collection, dissemination and analysis of data. The research has many facets, ranging from ethics to mathematics, from social to computer science, and therefore requires an eclectic mix of expertise. The CAPRI team is a collective but is presently led by Dr. Kingsley Purdam. CAPRI includes associates from across Manchester University. The group has developed innovative methods to establish the level of disclosure risk in microdata files and tabular data for small areas. This has made a major contribution to the Office for National Statistics' assessment of disclosure risk with census and survey data and has developed enough to hold a successful international symposium in May 2005, attracting speakers from Spain, US, Sweden and Australia. The group is now involved with the Clinical e-science Framework and the CASSEDA consortium and is a major player in the drive towards standardised remote access to census, survey and health data. The Confidentiality And PRIvacy group (CAPRI) is a multidisciplinary team of highly experienced researchers that has been set up to investigate the confidentiality and privacy issues that arise from the collection, dissemination and analysis of data. This research has many facets, ranging from ethics to mathematics, from social to computer science, and therefore requires an eclectic mix of expertise. To achieve this CAPRI is based on a collaboration between two 6* rated departments at the University of Manchester, these being the Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research (CCSR) and the Department of Computer Science. The CAPRI team is available for consultancy on data confidentiality and privacy issues. Contact Kingsley Purdam on 0161-275-4219 or email Kingsley.Purdam@manchester.ac.uk |
